“Family Honors Devoted Dad Lost in Tragic Car Crash”

A father who tragically lost his life in a severe car accident is being honored by his family.

Stephen Jones, aged 33, sustained serious injuries in a collision on Christmas Eve and passed away on January 3. His partner, a 34-year-old woman, is currently in a stable but serious condition in the hospital. Their eight-year-old son suffered minor injuries and is now being looked after by extended family members.

In a heartfelt tribute, Stephen’s family described him as a cherished son, brother, partner, uncle, and above all, a devoted father. They emphasized that Stephen found immense joy in his role as a dad.

Described as a friend and an ardent Everton supporter, Stephen was known for his dedication to helping others. His passion for coaching youth grassroots football had a positive impact on numerous lives.

The family expressed deep sorrow over Stephen’s passing, acknowledging the irreplaceable void it has left. They emphasized that he will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in their hearts.

Following the incident, a 32-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested at the crash site. He has been released on bail with restrictions and is under investigation for causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The investigation is ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy of the Serious Collision Investigation unit extended sympathies to Stephen’s family during this difficult time. He highlighted the devastation felt by Stephen’s loved ones and the broader community due to his involvement in coaching children’s football.

The investigation is actively progressing, with a focus on gathering eyewitness testimonies and dashcam footage. Authorities are urging anyone who was in the vicinity of the M57 or the East Lancashire Road around 8:30 pm on Christmas Eve to come forward with any relevant information.

Gratitude was expressed to the individuals who stopped at the scene to offer assistance and aid to the emergency services.
