A British ex-property developer’s daughter expresses deep concern over her missing father during a vacation in Costa del Sol.
Clifford Wildgoose, aged 76, was last observed at Patrick’s 19th Hole Bar in the upscale Puerto Banus area near Marbella around 2 am on Saturday. He was scheduled to catch a flight to Manchester later that morning with a solicitor friend, his holiday companion in Spain.
However, Melanie Hall, Mr. Wildgoose’s daughter, disclosed that he did not show up at Malaga Airport, causing the family to be “extremely worried” about his whereabouts. Ms. Hall, based in Manchester, stated, “We’re all extremely worried. I was planning to go to Spain this morning, but we were advised to wait. The flight he was supposed to take back home has departed, his friends are at the airport, but he is nowhere to be found, and there has been no communication from him.”
She mentioned a £7 transaction made on his bank card at a nearby supermarket, along with multiple small purchases, shortly after his last sighting. Ms. Hall mentioned that the authorities were notified, hoping they are looking into the transactions.
Ms. Hall added, “Currently, we are unsure if it was my dad or someone else using his card. The friend with him mentioned he disappeared suddenly, standing at the bar one moment and gone the next.”
She also noted that her father, who has undergone knee surgery and has other health issues, is not very stable on his feet.
The retired father of five daughters hails from Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, and resides in Whitby, North Yorkshire.
Ms. Hall remarked, “He left his phone and passport at his friend’s place in La Cala de Mijas, half an hour away from Puerto Banus, and as he is unfamiliar with the address, he won’t know how to get there. He only had some euros and his bank card on him.”
She added, “My dad is well-loved. He is sociable, amiable, and a familiar face in Marsden near Huddersfield where he and his friends are from. He is a seasoned traveler and has been in business for most of his life. The Yorkshire Police have been supportive, and his friend has contacted the Spanish authorities. They are aware of the card transactions and are handling the matter. I have been trying to reach the hospitals.”
The family of Mr. Wildgoose first raised concerns about his disappearance on social media.
In an initial post, Ms. Hall wrote, “Missing person last seen at Patrick’s 19th Hole Bar in Puerto Banus. He’s a 76-year-old British man named Clifford Wildgoose. Family is very worried, and the police have been notified. Please message with any information.”
She posted another message later the same Saturday, “He was supposed to fly back home today. He has no phone, and there has been no contact. The family is extremely concerned. Please reach out with any information.”
Additionally, she mentioned online that her father was not feeling well at the time of his disappearance.
