Boxer Anthony Joshua Hospitalized After Nigeria Car Crash

Anthony Joshua is currently hospitalized after sustaining ‘minor injuries’ in a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two individuals. Reports indicate that the former heavyweight champion was involved in a collision between a Jeep he was traveling in and a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in southwestern Nigeria.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed that he was aware of the incident and that Joshua was en route to the hospital. Details were scarce as Hearn was on holiday in the Caribbean when he learned of the crash.

According to a local news outlet, Joshua was seated in the back of the vehicle during the accident and suffered minor injuries. The boxer was part of a two-car convoy, including a Pajero SUV and a Lexus SUV, with his security personnel traveling in a separate vehicle behind them.

Eyewitnesses recounted the events leading to the crash, describing a two-vehicle convoy comprising a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Tragically, two occupants in the Lexus, including the passenger beside the driver and the individual beside Joshua, lost their lives at the scene.

Authorities revealed that the crash occurred when Joshua’s vehicle swerved into the truck after a tire blowout, causing him to lose control. Local police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Images from witnesses captured Joshua standing after the crash, with reports indicating that he is in stable condition despite sustaining minor injuries.

Joshua, who recently participated in an exhibition fight against Jake Paul in Miami, Florida, emerged victorious with a sixth-round knockout. Following the match, Joshua hinted at significant plans for 2026, reigniting his rivalry with Tyson Fury.

Both fighters have engaged in a longstanding verbal feud, teasing a potential showdown in the near future under the organization of Riyadh Season and His Excellency Turki Alalshikh. Joshua has expressed eagerness to face Fury in the ring, challenging him to back up his words with action.

As Joshua continues his recovery in Nigeria, fans await further updates on his condition and any developments regarding his anticipated clash with Fury.
