A former romantic partner of Prince Harry has been taken into custody for allegedly departing a hotel in Majorca without settling a bill amounting to nearly £450.
Reality TV personality Catherine Ommanney, aged 53, was apprehended yesterday on suspicions of fraudulent activity after a hotel manager alerted authorities in the morning. She is accused of leaving the Playas del Rey Hotel, a three-star establishment in the popular Santa Ponsa resort near Magaluf, without paying a bill totaling over €500 (£434) for a stay spanning nine days.
Official sources have confirmed the detainment. Catherine, who claims to have engaged in intimate encounters with Harry when he was 21 and she was 34, appeared before a judge yesterday evening in Palma, the capital of Majorca.
She was granted bail pending an ongoing investigation. Local newspaper Ultima Hora reported that Catherine, an interior designer and one of the original five main cast members of the Real Housewives of DC, reserved her accommodation using a card that had insufficient funds.
It remains unknown whether she provided any explanations during her court appearance this morning. She was seen exiting a detention cell around 7pm yesterday escorted by a Civil Guard officer, heading to a closed-door hearing at the courthouse.
Following her release from custody, she refrained from making any comments. The exact location of her arrest has not been disclosed yet. Catherine disclosed details about a brief relationship she allegedly had with Harry in 2006, which she revealed in November 2022, emphasizing that she did not expect it to be included in his memoir.
Describing Harry as a skilled kisser and a gentleman, Catherine shared insights into their interactions, mentioning that she provided him with advice and a different perspective due to her age. Their relationship reportedly ended after a few encounters, but they remained amicable and met again in 2009 at a polo match.
A spokesperson for the Civil Guard confirmed the arrest, stating that a 53-year-old British woman was taken into custody on suspicion of fraud following a report from a hotel representative in Santa Ponsa regarding an unpaid bill.
Sources revealed that Catherine stayed at the Playas del Rey Hotel from January 2 to 11, accumulating a bill of approximately 550 Euros (£475). The interior designer was arrested and appeared in court under a previous surname used due to a past marriage.
In response to reports of her arrest and court attendance, Catherine dismissed the allegations, asserting that the bill had been fully settled. She claimed to possess evidence of payment and aimed to seek an apology through legal channels for what she described as a hotel error.
The receptionist at Playas del Rey Hotel mentioned that the manager was unavailable for comment, and court officials have not yet responded to inquiries regarding the resolution of the case and the status of the investigation.
