“Starmer Condemns Trump’s ‘Piggy’ Remark on Live TV”

Keir Starmer faced questions regarding Donald Trump’s offensive “piggy” remark towards a female journalist aboard Air Force One last month during an appearance on ITV’s program, Loose Women. Responding to presenter Myleene Klass, Starmer expressed that he would not tolerate such language towards his daughter or colleagues. The incident occurred when Trump rudely addressed Bloomberg’s Catherine Lucey as “Quiet! Quiet, piggy” while she asked him about his involvement in emails related to Jeffrey Epstein.

During the show, Klass asked Starmer if he would allow someone to speak to his family or colleagues in a similar manner to Trump’s behavior. Starmer firmly stated that he would not permit it and acknowledged the need to address such behaviors, particularly among teenagers who may not realize the extent of the problem.

Starmer’s appearance coincided with the government’s launch of its significant strategy to combat violence against women and girls. When inquired about misogyny in Westminster, Starmer admitted its presence, emphasizing its pervasiveness across society and the prevalence of abuse victims. Home Office minister Jess Phillips, who spearheaded the strategy, pledged robust government action against the issue.

Among the measures announced, Phillips outlined plans to make the UK a challenging environment for children to access harmful content and misogynistic influences online. She specifically mentioned banning “nudification” tools and collaborating with tech firms to prevent the distribution of nude images, ensuring a safer online space for children.
