“Wozniacki Defends Raducanu’s US Open Triumph”

Caroline Wozniacki defended Emma Raducanu against John Isner’s comments dismissing her remarkable US Open victory. Raducanu, a British tennis sensation, made history in 2021 by becoming the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows, securing the championship by winning 10 consecutive matches without dropping a set, including a thrilling final against Leylah Fernandez.

In a recent tennis upset, Valentin Vacherot became the lowest-ranked player ever to win a Masters title at Shanghai, defeating top players like Novak Djokovic along the way. Isner argued that Vacherot’s achievement overshadowed Raducanu’s Grand Slam success, citing the Frenchman’s improbable rise from one main-level victory before his breakout performance.

Wozniacki, a former Australian Open champion, disagreed with Isner’s view, asserting that winning a Grand Slam title holds more significance than any other tennis accomplishment. Despite temporarily stepping away from professional tennis in 2022, Wozniacki made a comeback in 2023, participating in prestigious tournaments such as the US Open and the Paris Olympics.

Raducanu, on the other hand, has faced challenges in maintaining her US Open-winning form since her historic victory in 2021. Reflecting on the comparisons to her past success, Raducanu admitted in an interview with The Guardian that the pressure and expectations from her previous achievements still linger in her mind, despite attempts to move past them.

She mentioned trying therapy to cope with the changes in her life but stopped after two sessions, feeling that her unique experiences as a trailblazing athlete made it challenging to relate to conventional therapy approaches. Raducanu emphasized the importance of self-reliance in navigating her personal growth and managing the aftermath of her groundbreaking accomplishments.
