Tiger Woods Takes Break from Golf After Seventh Back Surgery

Tiger Woods recently announced that he will be taking a break from golf following a back surgery he underwent in October. This surgery marked the seventh procedure on his back, with three major operations in the last two years, including surgeries on his Achilles and ankle.

Despite his illustrious career that began nearly three decades ago, Woods has been struggling with injuries since winning the Masters in 2019, ending an 11-year Major drought. While hosting his annual Hero World Challenge golf tournament in the Bahamas, Woods acknowledged the challenging road ahead for his return to competitive play.

Although he humorously suggested playing in 25 events across tours, Woods emphasized the need to focus on his recovery before planning his schedule. He highlighted the gradual process of rehabilitation and the importance of regaining strength and mobility before committing to future tournaments.

Recently cleared to resume chipping and putting after six weeks post-surgery, Woods expressed the limitations of recovery from a disc replacement. His focus now shifts to gym workouts and rotational exercises to enhance his physical condition and prepare for a potential comeback.

A significant motivation for Woods is the opportunity to break the PGA record for all-time tournament wins, currently tied with the legendary Sam Snead at 82 victories. Notah Begay III, a close friend of Woods, highlighted the challenges Woods faces, particularly in navigating the golf course post-surgery.
