Lando Norris was quick to approach his elegant girlfriend Margarida Corceiro after securing his position as Formula 1 champion. The British driver was seen sharing kisses and embraces with the Portuguese model in the midst of the crowd before heading to the podium to celebrate his victory over Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Norris only needed to secure third place at the Yas Marina Circuit to claim the championship, maintaining his 12-point lead over Verstappen before the race. Despite briefly losing second place to his teammate Piastri early on, Norris managed to secure the necessary position.
Charles Leclerc posed a late threat to Norris, closing in on him, but eventually, his Ferrari’s pace dropped, allowing Norris a clear path to the finish line and the championship title. Emotional upon crossing the line, Norris expressed his gratitude to his team over the radio, shedding tears of joy.
Exiting his car, Norris embraced his parents and shared an emotional moment with Corceiro, confirming their rekindled relationship after years of being on and off. Corceiro’s public presence has garnered increased interest in the partners of F1 drivers this year, especially after a spotlight on them during the Singapore Grand Prix drew criticism from Carlos Sainz for overshadowing the competition.
Corceiro addressed the attention, stating, “I don’t seek out the cameras. If they capture me, they capture me. Sometimes I’m unaware of being recorded.”
Reflecting on his achievement, Norris expressed his emotions, acknowledging the support of his McLaren team, family, and competitors Verstappen and Piastri. He emphasized the challenging journey and his pride in bringing success to McLaren after nine years of partnership.
