A 31-year-old bartender known for his infectious smile was discovered deceased in his London apartment, believed to have passed away from a suspected heart attack. Matteo Leone was found unconscious and unresponsive by his flatmates early on Sunday, January 4.
Emergency services were promptly alerted, yet efforts to revive Matteo were unsuccessful, with indications suggesting he may have passed away during his sleep. While awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination, initial findings point towards a potential heart attack as the likely cause of death.
Described as content with his role as a bartender in London, Matteo was captured in a photograph beaming while mixing a cocktail at the Looking Glass Cocktail Club in Shoreditch.
Having relocated to London after completing his studies to embrace urban life and enhance his English proficiency, Matteo, originally from Canosa di Puglia, had spent a significant part of his life in Castiglione Messer Raimondo, near Pescara.
His grief-stricken father, Graziano Leone, a police station chief in Pescara, flew to London upon hearing the news. Matteo is survived by his mother and three siblings, with a memorial vigil held in his honor at Shoreditch Park the previous evening.
Preparations are underway to repatriate his body to Italy. A friend, Mirko, expressed deep sorrow, reminiscing about Matteo’s lively presence and radiant smile, vowing to cherish those memories forever.
“Rest in peace, Matté.”
