A surprise victor has emerged as the Europe’s Leading Theme Park for 2025 at the prestigious World Travel Awards. Situated in the sunny country of Spain, the winning park is a lesser-known gem that typically flies under the radar for British tourists.
Debuting in 2021 in Toledo, Puy du Fou España draws inspiration from its French namesake theme park. Located approximately an hour south of Madrid, this historic city, once the capital of Spain, provides an ideal backdrop for an attraction highlighting the nation’s rich past.
Unlike traditional theme parks with rollercoasters and kiddie rides, Puy du Fou España offers grand, immersive shows focusing on historical events performed on a grand scale.
During the daytime, visitors can indulge in spectacular shows like “A Pluma y Espada” (With Pen and Sword), a riveting performance centered around a prominent Spanish playwright akin to Shakespeare. Additionally, the Falconry of Kings exhibit, showcasing falconry competitions from bygone eras, along with captivating bird demonstrations, captivate audiences.
Exploring the meticulously crafted villages within the park transports guests back in time.
