A tragic incident unfolded when a newlywed woman survived a harrowing motorway crash only to tragically lose her life as a lorry collided with her while she was exiting the overturned vehicle. Samara Prado Martins, aged 24, and her husband Thiago Oliveira Martins were involved in the accident in Ponta Grossa, Parana, Brazil, just a month after their wedding.
Following the initial crash where their car rolled over on the BR-376 motorway, the couple managed to escape the vehicle but were struck by a passing lorry that failed to stop in time. Unfortunately, Samara succumbed to her injuries at the crash site, while Thiago was rescued and airlifted to a hospital in Ponta Grossa, where he remains in critical condition and is receiving medical care with the support of his family.
According to reports, the couple was returning from the beach alone in their car when the tragic incident occurred. Samara’s parents, brother, and sister-in-law, who were traveling in a separate vehicle, turned back upon learning of the accident. The driver of the lorry involved in the collision emerged unscathed, and authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the initial crash.
Samara’s body will be transported to Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, for her final rites. Friends of the victim, who hails from Dourados, have taken to social media to pay tribute and offer condolences to her grieving family in the wake of the devastating accident.
