Sir Paul McCartney’s former wife, Heather Mills, sustained injuries in a frightening skiing mishap. The 57-year-old mother and Paralympic skier was in Austria for business when the incident occurred on the Alpine slopes in the Hinterglemm region. Despite the setback, the animal rights activist remained positive, describing herself as “fortunate” to have only damaged her prosthetic leg support during the skiing outing.
Heather, who had her left leg amputated below the knee following a collision with a police motorbike in London in 1993, maintained a cheerful demeanor in a photo shared online. In the image, she is seen on crutches, adorned in a vibrant orange ski outfit alongside a friend, with her prosthetic leg removed. She conveyed well wishes for a prosperous New Year while acknowledging the incident that led to her minor injury.
According to a spokesperson speaking to the Mail about the accident, Heather will need to rely on crutches for five days until the swelling in her residual limb subsides. The mishap occurred on the final day of her trip when she attempted to accelerate down an empty slope, causing her leg brace to give way due to excessive speed.
Expressing gratitude that the accident occurred at the trip’s end, Heather will have to revisit the prosthetic clinic to repair the brace, which did not sustain any damage. Despite the inconvenience, she remained appreciative that the incident transpired on the last run of the day.
In addition to her skiing achievements, Heather spent Christmas with her partner, filmmaker and actor Mike Dickman, after the couple’s festive journey to New York. The duo, who first connected in 2019 during a chance train encounter, have since appeared together at various public functions, including last summer’s premiere of The Flying Dutchman in Vienna.
Heather’s advice to singles, relayed during an interview on ITV’s Lorraine in 2024, emphasized the value of personal interactions over dating apps. Encouraging individuals to engage in conversations with others, she highlighted the significance of forming connections beyond digital platforms.
