The Met Office has issued warnings for potential flooding in 51 areas, prompting advice for locals to prepare emergency flood kits in anticipation of the adverse weather conditions.
A yellow weather alert has been issued across Scotland, the Midlands, and Wales due to heavy rains, with concerns over possible flooding, road spray, and disruptions to travel by road and rail.
Starting at 9 am today and lasting until 6 am on Sunday, the weather warning urges caution and preparation for those in the affected areas. The Met Office advises individuals to assess their flood risk, develop a flood plan, and assemble essential items for emergencies.
Drivers and commuters are encouraged to stay informed about road conditions and transport schedules to minimize delays. Additionally, preparations for power outages, including having torches, batteries, and a mobile power source, are recommended.
Following a brief spell of warm weather with temperatures reaching 27C on Friday, wintry conditions are expected to prevail throughout the weekend, as indicated by the Met Office’s forecast.
Deputy Chief Meteorologist Tom Crabtree stated that heavy rainfall ranging from 20-30 mm to possibly 60-80 mm in some areas is anticipated, along with strong winds and potential thunderstorms. Southwest England, western Wales, and parts of the northeast are likely to experience gusts exceeding 55 mph.
