“WestJet Flight Attendants’ Union Reveals 18% Wage Increase Deal”

The union representing WestJet flight attendants has disclosed details of the tentative agreement reached with the Calgary-based airline following a one-day strike. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) revealed that the deal features an 18% wage increase spread over three years, along with a new “duty period premium” for ground work compensation. Additionally, the agreement encompasses enhanced time off, increased food and uniform allowances, and other benefits.

WestJet flights across a significant portion of Canada were halted over a lengthy holiday weekend as 4,400 flight attendants prepared to strike, commencing early Sunday. However, a tentative agreement was reached between the air carrier and the union on Monday, leading to a gradual return to normal operations for WestJet.

Cabin crew members are scheduled to vote on the agreement in the upcoming weeks.
