“Sky Launches Affordable Smart Home Plans in the UK”

Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK that feature internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month, aiming to compete with popular devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. According to Sky, these plans offer significant cost savings compared to purchasing a Ring system through Amazon.

The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee. It provides features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, expressed that the goal of Sky Smart Home is to make high-quality smart technology accessible and user-friendly. These new plans mark a shift for Sky, as they now offer standalone home security services beyond their previous Protect Smart Home Insurance, which bundled cameras and alarms.

In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month for cloud recording access. Sky’s new offerings aim to provide customers with affordable and easy-to-use options for home security.
